On the afternoon of October 13th, the Launching Ceremony of the Global Alliance for the Development of Pharmaceutical Science was successfully held in Nanjing. The meeting was attended by the President of our school, Hao Haiping, and vice Presidents Kong Lingyi and Yao Hequan, among other leaders.

At the meeting, Vice President Kong Lingyi introduced the establishment of the Global Alliance for the Development of Pharmaceutical Science (hereinafter referred to as the Alliance). Composed voluntarily by domestic and foreign universities, enterprises, research institutions, and other organizations with leading advantages in the field of bio-pharmaceutical development and a common vision for development, it is the first international pharmaceutical professional alliance initiated by a university in China. The Alliance is an academic, unofficial, and non-profit organization. It is dedicated to open cooperation, serving education, innovation and development, and sharing the future. Adhering to the concept of “open sharing and innovative cooperation,” the Alliance is committed to establishing a global platform for exchange and cooperation in the field of education, science and technology, and talent among member institutions, promoting closer partnerships between member colleges or universities, non-profit government organizations, and the industry, and promoting the sustainable development of global pharmaceutical schools, leading the biotechnology revolution, and contributing to human health and well-being. The first batch of member institutions includes 36 universities from 14 countries including China, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. The first chairman’s unit is China Pharmaceutical University, which initiated the Alliance, and the first chairman is Professor Hao Haiping, the President of China Pharmaceutical University.

Subsequently, the articles of the Alliance were displayed on the screen, and all members of the Alliance clapped in approval.

President Hao Haiping, as the first chairman of the Alliance, delivered a speech. He pointed out that serving the health and well-being of all mankind is the common mission of every pharmaceutical school. The establishment of the Alliance is of great significance. As the backbone, pharmaceutical schools have united to closely connect with social needs, lead the development of the times, and achieve sustainable development of pharmaceutical education. In the future, the Alliance will promote the establishment of a special fund plan for Alliance partners, carry out special teacher-student exchange projects of the Alliance, strengthen resource complementarity, promote multilateral scientific research cooperation, and cooperate to apply for intergovernmental international scientific research cooperation projects. In addition, the Alliance will also leverage the scale and supply chain advantages of domestic pharmaceutical companies in China to promote industry cooperation and explore innovative paths for the cross-border transformation and commercialization of scientific research results. He hopes that global pharmaceutical schools can seek common ground while reserving differences, unite in development consensus; work together in good faith, share development resources; and innovate to explore growth points for cooperation. He looks forward to everyone working together to promote the development of the Alliance and make new contributions to the cause of human health.

At the closing ceremony of the conference, the Nanjing Consensus on the Development of Global Pharmacy Education (hereinafter referred to as the Consensus) was officially released. The Consensus points out that health knows no borders. Humanity faces unprecedented challenges in the field of health and health, and the development of life sciences and artificial intelligence brings new opportunities for the reform and development of global pharmaceutical schools. Global pharmaceutical schools should work together to promote mutual understanding, seek common ground while reserving differences, and strengthen cooperation to work together for the well-being of human health.
