On the afternoon of October 13th, the Launching Ceremony of the Global Alliance for the Development of Pharmaceutical Science was successfully held in Nanjing.
Vice President Kong Lingyi introduced the Alliance, which is the first international pharmaceutical alliance initiated by a Chinese university. Comprising universities, enterprises, and research institutions from around the world, the Alliance aims to foster open cooperation, support education and innovation, and share a common future. It is an academic, non-profit organization dedicated to creating a global platform for exchange and collaboration in education, science, technology, and talent. The initial membership includes 36 universities from 14 countries, with China Pharmaceutical University as the first chairmanship, led by President Hao Haiping.
During the ceremony, the Alliance's Charter was presented and approved by its members. President Hao Haiping, as the first chairman, emphasized the importance of the Alliance in serving global health and well-being. He outlined plans to establish a special fund, promote teacher-student exchange programs, enhance multilateral research cooperation, and leverage Chinese pharmaceutical industry advantages to foster innovation and commercialization of research results. He urged members to unite, share resources, and explore new avenues for collaboration.
Representatives from mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, and overseas members also spoke, highlighting their commitment to the Alliance's goals. Prior to the launch, President Hao delivered a special report on pharmaceutical education and research at China Pharmaceutical University, engaging in discussions with experts on global trends in pharmaceutical education and research.
The conference concluded with the release of the Nanjing Consensus on the Development of Global Pharmacy Education. The Consensus underscores the importance of international cooperation among pharmaceutical schools to address global health challenges and promote sustainable development in the pharmaceutical sector.
