State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine (University of Macau) | SKL-QRCM(UM)

The Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences was founded in 2002 and in recent years, the Institute has hosted the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine and the vision of ICMS/SKL has always strived to establish a world-class system for quality research in Chinese Medicine. We have so far achieved astonishing results in areas including talent cultivation, scientific research and social services.

On 20 October 2019, the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council released the “Opinion on the Promotion of the Preservation and Innovative Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine”, which incorporated Chinese Medicine into the building of a community of shared future for mankind and the international collaborations in the “Belt and Road Initiative”. At the same time, the “Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” suggested that there is a need to build a healthy Bay Area, taking modern Chinese Medicine as a key industry for cultivation. It also emphasized the importance of Macau’s active role in the modernization, standardization and internationalization of Chinese Medicine. The newly inaugurated Macau SAR government continues to regard the Chinese Medicine industry as a key development direction of “moderate economic diversification”.

Under this current situation, we hope to transform the advantages of science and technology into the advantages of supporting the industrial development through conducting high-level scientific research and cultivating high-quality talents.
